END OF LIFE for macOS 32bits applications

Authors list

Dear partners,

I would like to share some important information regarding products for macOS and native 64-bit support. During last year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2017), Apple announced that macOS High Sierra will be the last macOS to support 32-bit applications “without compromise”. To further emphasize this, as of January 1, 2018, Apple stopped accepting submission of new 32-bit applications into Mac App Store, and confirmed that updates of existing applications must support 64-bit starting June 2018.

Requirement to support 64-bit also applies to applications distributed outside the App Store, including ESET products. Starting with the next minor update to macOS High Sierra (version 10.13.4 which is currently in Beta), a notification will be displayed upon launch of a 32-bit application, saying the application may not be compatible with future versions of macOS. It is expected that the next major version of macOS, which will be released this fall, will be more aggressive with such notifications, with aim to push out 32-bit applications completely.

Our development team has been working on native 64-bit support for ESET Cyber Security/ESET Cyber Security Pro, as well as ESET Endpoint Antivirus/ESET Endpoint Security for macOS. New 64-bit installers will be fully compatible with future versions of macOS.
