How do I update my license file in ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server? (4.5.x)

Issue

  • After renewing your license file (.lic) for ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server (EMSX), you must upload the new file into EMSX.
     
  • ESET Mail Security displays the notification "Mail server security license expired"

Solution

  1. On the server where ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server is installed, open the email that you received from ESET after renewing your license. The title will be Important ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server license information, and the sender will be noreply@orders.eset.com.
  1. Download the attachment named ESET_Mail_Security.zip and save it to your Desktop.

  1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Mail Security\License and delete all license files (.lic) files present.

  1. Open ESET Mail Security by clicking Start → All Programs → ESET → ESET Mail Security → ESET Mail Security.
  1. Press F5 on your keyboard to access Setup.
  1. Expand Miscellaneous → Licenses and click Add.

  1. Navigate to the file that you unzipped in step 2, select the file (ESET_Mail_Security.zip) and then click Open.

  1. Verify that the Owner, Quantity and Expiration date shown in the Licenses window are correct and then click OK. ESET Mail Security should no longer display "Mail server security license expired".
