Issue

  • The spamcatcher.conf file is missing/no longer available in ESET Mail Security for Linux version 4.5

  • Migrate Antispam settings from an older version of ESET Mail Security for Linux /BSD

Solution

Before migrating Antispam settings:

  • Verify that your ESET Mail Security for Linux license is valid. If not, please renew your license.
  • If you have never edited spamcatcher.conf on the server with ESET Mail Security for Linux installed, you can skip these steps.
  1. Open the following file in Terminal no. 1:

    /etc/opt/eset/esets/anti-spam/spamcatcher.conf

  2. Open ESETS configuration file in Terminal no. 2 and navigate to the ESETS anti-spam scanner common options section:

    /etc/opt/eset/esets/esets.cfg

    Two  examples of setting which can be migrated (merged):

    spamcatcher.conf :: rbl_list
    esets.cfg :: as_rbl_service

    or

    spamcatcher.conf :: as_approved_ip_list
    esets.cfg :: approved_ip_list

  3. Configure the Antispam settings in esets.cfg according to spamcatcher.conf as similar as possible.

    Alternatively, you can also edit the Antispam settings using the Web Interface, from the Configuration → Global → Antispam options section:
