Follow the instructions below to migrate additional configuration settings (for example, scheduled tasks, third-party application exclusions) from ESET NOD32 Antivirus/ESET Smart Security Business Edition and upgrade to ESET File Security 4.5.
I. Export your ESET NOD32 Antivirus/ESET Smart Security Business Edition configuration
Export your configuration settings (xml) using one of the three methods below for your network:

Export an .xml configuration using the ESET Remote Administrator Policy Manager

Export an .xml configuration in the ESET Remote Administrator Console
II. Save and export the configuration settings from ERAC
- In the ESET Configuration Editor, click File → Open and open the .xml configuration file you created in Part I.
- In the configuration file, click ESET Smart Security, ESET NOD32 Antivirus and click Unmark.

- Navigate to ESET Smart Security, ESET NOD32 Antivirus → ESET Kernel → Setup and then click Exclusions.
- Click Mark and then save the changes by clicking File → Save (or Ctrl + S).

- To retain any Scheduled Tasks (Scheduled Scans), navigate to ESET Smart Security, ESET NOD32 Antivirus → ESET Kernel → Setup and click Scheduler/Planner.
- Click Mark and then save the changes by clicking File → Save (or Ctrl + S).
III. Uninstall ESET NOD32 Antivirus Business Edition
- Follow the instructions in the following ESET Knowledgebase article to uninstall your ESET NOD32 Antivirus Business Edition installed on your servers:
ERA version 5.x users: Push uninstall to client workstations using ESET Remote Administrator (5.x)
ERA version 4.x users: Push uninstall to client(s) using ESET Remote Administrator (4.x)
- Restart the server.
IV. Download ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server 4.5
- Click the appropriate link below to download your security product for Microsoft® Windows® 7/Vista/Home Server/XP/2008 R2/2008/2003 R2/2003/2000:
32-BIT DOWNLOAD 64-BIT DOWNLOAD
- Select Save and save the file to the Desktop.
V. Install ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server
- To begin installation, double-click the ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server installer icon "efsw_ntXX_enu.msi". For further instructions, see one the following Knowledgebase articles:
- Manually installing ESET File Security: Download and install ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server (4.5)
- Using ESET Remote Administrator to push install to your servers: Push install to client workstations using ESET Remote Administrator (5.x)
- Connect ESET File Security to ESET Remote Administrator Server. For help connecting, visit: Why can't I see client workstations in the client tab of the ESET Remote Administrator Console?
- Once it has reported in to ESET Remote Administrator (i.e., displays in the Client tab), right-click the client and select New Task → Configuration Task.

- In the Configuration for Clients window, click Select and browse to the .xml saved in Part II above.

- Click Next until you reach the Task Report screen and name your Task settings. Click Finish.

The next time ESET File Security Server reports in, it will receive the configuration settings.
If you are upgrading your system to version 6, after completing the instructions above, continue to Upgrade from ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server 4.5 to version 6.
