How do I use ESET Remote Administrator to configure the "Do not run task if the computer is running on battery” feature for Mac clients?

Issue

  • Enabling the "Do not run task if the computer is running on battery" option to conserve battery life when running tasks on client workstations running ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 Business Edition for Mac OS X.

This feature is only available in version 4.0.69 or later. Click here for instructions to determine which version you have.

Solution

 

A new version has been released

Version 6 of ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) and ESET business products were released in North America December 11th, 2014, and globally February 25th, 2015. This article applies to version 5.x and earlier ESET business products. For information about what's new in the latest version and how to upgrade, see the following article:

 

Create a custom task on a client

  1. Open the main program window by clicking the ESET icon  on the menu bar and selecting Open ESET NOD32 Antivirus or by clicking Finder   Applications  ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.
     
  2. From the main menu, click Tools  Scheduler and then click Add task from the primary window. 
  1. Enter a Task name, select the desired task from the Scheduled task drop-down menu and then select a frequency from the Run task menu. 

    NOTE:

    We do not recommend using the option "Do not run task if the computer is running on battery" for the Update task. Updates are essential in providing constant protection for your system.

  2. Select the check box next to Do not run task if the computer is running on battery and then click Next

Download the client's task configuration to ESET Remote Administrator

  1. Open the ESET Remote Administrator Console (ERAC) by clicking Start  All Programs  ESET  ESET Remote Administrator console > ESET Remote Administrator Console.
     
  2. Right-click the client on which you created the task and then click Request Data  Request Configuration from the context menu.

  1. Select the client on which you created the task and press the F4 key. The configuration window will open and you will see the message Configuration downloaded (see Figure 1-3).
     
  2. Save the configuration by selecting the check box next to Then run ESET Configuration Editor to edit the file and then clicking Save As.

Push the configuration file to client workstations 

  1. In the ERAC main window, click Actions  New Task  Configuration Task. You should see this window:

  1. Click Select and navigate to the location where you saved the configuration file. Click Next.

  1. Select the client workstations you want to apply this configuration to and then click the 'Add to selection' right arrow to add them to the Selected items list. Click Next.

  1. Select the time and the date of the execution of the task and click Finish. The task is created and the configuration will be sent to clients. The clients will receive the configuration with the new feature "Do not run task if the computer is running on battery".
