Issue

  • Update client workstations in a closed environment (no Internet access)
  • Update client workstations that have no Internet access but still receive updates from a computer in the network

Before proceeding

To complete the steps below you must either have an ESET Remote Administrator Server (with Internet access) installed and configured as a mirror, or have a client workstation set up to function as a mirror:

Solution

ESET Remote Administrator version 6 users

The steps below are specific to ESET Remote Administrator version 5.x and earlier. For more information on providing updates to clients using ESET Remote Administrator 6, see the following Knowledgebase articles:

I. Copy update files to removable media

  1. On the machine with ESET Remote Administrator installed (or the client workstation configured to serve as an update mirror), insert the removable media that you will be using to transfer the update files.

  2. Navigate to the mirror server folder for the ESET Remote Administrator Server (ERAS) located in the following directory:

    Server 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server
    Server 2008 R22011: C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server
    Windows XP and earlier: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET Endpoint Antivirus\Server
    Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1: C:\ProgramData\ESET\ESET Endpoint Antivirus\Server

  3. Select the mirror folder, right-click and then select Copy from the context menu.

  4. Navigate to your removable media, select your desired save location, right-click and then select Paste from the context menu. A copy of your mirror folder will automatically be transferred to your removable media.

  5. When the file transfer is complete, safely remove your removable media and continue to the next section.

II. Import update files on the endpoint

  1. On the client workstation that requires updates, insert the removable media that you used in the previous section.

  2. Open ESET Endpoint Antivirus or ESET Endpoint and press the F5 key to access the Advanced Setup window.

  3. Expand Update and click General.
