ESET PROTECT 9.0 and ESET PROTECT Cloud 3.0 introduce automatic updates for supported ESET security products. Auto-updates are used to deliver both major releases and feature updates. The auto-updates feature downloads .dup files during the first module update check. The latest version is activated after a restart.
Auto-updates differ from Micro Program Component Updates (uPCU) updates in that Auto-updates will only update supported ESET products managed by ESET PROTECT or ESET PROTECT Cloud. uPCU updates have an automatic feature that will update managed or unmanaged ESET products.
You can also opt-out from auto-updates.

On-premises users
New PROTECT 9.0 installations have auto-updates enabled by default.
Users upgrading from ESET PROTECT 8.x or ESET Security Management Center will display the Automatic product updates notification after upgrading to ESET PROTECT 9.x.
Cloud users
New PROTECT Cloud deployments have auto-updates enabled by default.
If you used ESET PROTECT Cloud before October 2021, the Web Console will display the Automatic product updates notification after ESET PROTECT Cloud instance upgrade.

Enable automatic update of Endpoint products 8.0
When you upgrade ESET PROTECT 8.x or ESET Security Management Center 7.x to ESET PROTECT 9.0 or later, you can use the one-click upgrade feature to enable automatic product updates and update your endpoint products version 8.0 to the latest version.
