How can I apply a policy to a push installation package in ESET Remote Administrator Console? (5.x)

A new version has been released

Version 6 of ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) and ESET business products were released in North America December 11th, 2014, and globally February 25th, 2015. If you do not use ESET Remote Administrator to manage your network

If you have already configured an installation package and want to install it locally (without pushing from ESET Remote Administrator) follow our step-by-step instructions.

  1. Open the ESET Remote Administrator Console by double-clicking the ERAC icon on your desktop, or by clicking Start → All Programs → ESET → ESET Remote Administrator Console → ESET Remote Administrator Console.
     
  2. Click Tools  Policy Manager. Select the policy that you want to include with your install package and click Edit Policy.

  1. After you have made any desired changes to your policy, click File  Export Marked to.

  1. Select a save location for your .xml file, type a name for it in the File name field and then click Save.

  1. Close ESET Configuration Editor and ESET Policy Manager.
     
  2. Click the Remote Install tab and then click Actions → Manage Packages.

  1. Click Add in the Installation Packages Editor window.

  1. Click Download From The Web, select the ESET product that you want to push install, download the installer file (your ESET-issued Username and Password will be required) and then click Create.

    Your installation can contain a 32-bit and 64-bit variant of the installer file, so that on networks with both 32- and 64-bit clients, one package can be pushed to all client workstations (the correct installer will run automatically). Repeat steps 6 and 7 to add a second file to your installation package.

  1. Before saving the package, you have the option to either make changes to the configuration associated with this installation package, or to select a pre-configured ESET Configuration File (.xml) that you would like to apply to this installation package. Click Select, navigate to the ESET configuration file that you saved in step 4, select and click Open.

  1. Click Save As, type a name for your new installation package in the Name field and then click Save. Click Close to exit Installation Packages Editor.

To install a preconfigured package on a client workstation manually

  1. Push the package that you just created out to clients.
