Version 6 of ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) and ESET business products were released in North America December 11th, 2014, and globally February 25th, 2015. This article applies to version 5.x and earlier ESET business products. For information about what's new in the latest version and how to upgrade, see the following article:

  • Not enough space to install ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) on the default system drive

  • You want to install ERA in a different location for security or maintenance purposes

Solution

Before installing

  • Make sure that the system drive on which you plan to install ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) is formatted using the NTFS file system. Installation will be unsuccessful if the drive is not formatted using NTFS.

  • You cannot install ERA on a network share. The installation directory must be located on a local drive.

  • If you are performing these steps on a computer with Windows Vista or earlier, or a version of Windows Server earlier than Windows Server 2008, you will need to download the Windows Junction utility.
  1. Install ESET Remote Administrator.

  2. Stop the ERA Server service.

  3. Close any open ERAC windows or utilities (for example, ESET Configuration Editor).

  4. On the drive where you want to store program files and data for ERAS and ERAC, create an ESET Remote Administrator folder with two sub-folders called Program Files and Program Data (for example, D:\ESET Remote Administrator\Program Files).

  5. Copy all ERAS and ERAC files from the folder where they currently reside into the corresponding folder on your destination drive. For example, copy files from C:\Program Files (x86)\ESET\ESET Remote Administrator\Server\Console to D:\ESET Remote Administrator\Program Files\Console.

  6. Create junctions (symbolic links) between the default system drive where you first installed ERA and the newly created folders on your destination drive. For instructions on how to create junctions, see the following Microsoft Knowledge base articles:

  7. Start the ERA Server service.
