How do I modify Web control groups from the ESET Remote Administrator Console? (5.x)

A new version has been released

Version 6 of ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) and ESET business products were released in North America December 11th, 2014, and globally February 25th, 2015. If you do not use ESET Remote Administrator to manage your network

Perform these steps on individual client workstations.

Modify Web control rules using ESET Remote Administrator

    1. Open the ESET Remote Administrator Console (ERAC) by clicking Start → All Programs → ESET → ESET Remote Administrator Console → ESET Remote Administrator Console.

    1. Click Tools → Policy Manager. In the Policy Manager window select your default policy and click Edit.

    2. Expand Windows desktop v5 → Web Control → Settings.

    1. Click Rules: See dialog → Edit.

    2. Click Edit Group in the Web Control Rules Editor window.

    3. Use the arrows to add or remove a selected subcategory within a selected group. For example, to add the Streaming & Downloadable Video subcategory to Group 1, select the Entertainment category → the Streaming & Downloadable Video subcategory, click the Group 1 tab and then click the right arrow. Remove a category or subcategory from a group by clicking that group's tab, selecting the item you wish to remove from that group and clicking the left arrow.

      Categories

      • There are some subcategories that are not included in predefined groups (for example, Games). To control a subcategory using Web control filter, it must be added to a group.
      • A subcategory can belong to only one group. If the subcategory being added is already included in another group, it will be removed and added to the most recently selected group.
      • You can also search for a group by entering search terms into the Search field located in the bottom left corner of the window.

    4. When you are finished, click OKOK again and then click Console to save your changes.

  1. Click OK in the Policy Manager window.
     

Perform these steps on an individual client workstation

    1. Open the main program window by double-clicking the ESET icon   in your Windows notification area or by clicking Start → All Programs → ESET → ESET Endpoint Security.

    1. Press the F5 key on your keyboard to open Advanced setup.

  1. Expand Web and email and click Web control → Configure rules.

  2. Click Edit Group in the Web Control Rules Editor window.

  3. Use the arrows to add or remove a selected subcategory within a selected group.   4. When you are finished, click OK, then OK again to save your changes.
