How do I password protect program settings on client workstations? (5.x)

Version 6 of ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) and ESET business products were released in North America December 11th, 2014, and globally February 25th, 2015. Solution

If you do not use ESET Remote Administrator to manage your network

Perform these steps on individual client workstations.

Password protect settings on client workstations using Policy manager

  1. Open the ESET Remote Administrator Console (ERAC) by double-clicking the ERAC icon on your Desktop or by clicking Start → All Programs → ESET → ESET Remote Administrator Console → ESET Remote Administrator Console.
     
  2. Click Tools → Policy Manager.
     
  3. Select the policy you want to modify and click Edit.

  4. Expand Windows desktop v5 → Kernel → Settings → Protect setup parameters.

  5. Click Password to unlock → Set password.

  6. Type the password into the Enter Password and Confirm Password fields and then click OK.

  7. Click Console → Yes to save your changes.
     
  8. Click OK to exit Policy Manager. The next time the client workstation(s) assigned to this policy check in they will be required to enter the password you set in step 6 before making changes to ESET program settings.

Password protect settings on individual client workstations

 

  1. Open ESET Endpoint Security or ESET Endpoint Antivirus. How do I open my ESET product?
     
  2. Press the F5 key to open the Advanced setup window.
     
  3. Expand User interface, click Access setup, and then select the check box next to Password protect settings.

  4. Enter your security password into the New password and Confirm new password fields, and then click OK.

  5. Click OK to save your changes.
