How do I set up and assign a policy to a static group in ESET Remote Administrator? (5.x)

Solution

  1. Create a static group
     
  2. Apply a policy rule to your static group
     

I. Create a static group

  1. In the ESET Remote Administrator Console (ERAC) click Tools → Group Manager.
     
  2. Click the Static Groups tab and then click Create.

  1. Enter a name for your static group (for example, "Static Group 1") and click OK.

  1. Select the group you just created and click Add/Remove.

  1. Select workstations that you want to include in your static group in the All items window and click > to add them to the Selected items window. Click OK to confirm your selections and then continue to part II below.

II. Apply a policy rule to your static group

  1. In the ERAC click Tools → Policy Manager → Policy Rules tab and then click New.

  1. Enter a name for the rule and click Edit.

  1. Define the policy rule by selecting items in the Rule conditions section. In the example below, From Primary Server and IS New Client are selected. Click OK to confirm your selections.

  1. Click Policy Rules Wizard. Click Yes if you are prompted to save changes.

  1. Click Group Manager.

  1. Select the static group you created in part I and click OK.

  1. Click Next. Leave Static groups selected under Group categories and click Next.

  1. Select whether to use a parent policy and click Next.

  1. Click Finish once the progress bar fills and then click OK to exit Policy Manager. Your new policy rules should now be applied to the static group you defined in part I.
