Solution

Instructions for an alternate method of distributing updates to client workstations over large networks, “Replication”, can be found here.

Important!

When performing the steps below, make sure that the appropriate port is open between locations or subnets. If your "lower mirrors" are in a different location or subnet, make sure that port 2221 is open between your "upper mirror" and "lower mirrors".

  1. Install ESET Remote Administrator on each machine that will be used as an update mirror. For step-by-step instructions, see the following Knowledgebase article:

To configure a client workstation to serve as an update mirror, see the following Knowledgebase article:

  2. Configure desired client workstations to point to a given update mirror:

  3. Point each update mirror to a single ESET Remote Administrator Console:|

    1. In the ESET Remote Administrator Console, click Tools → Server Options.

    2. Click the Updates tab.

    3. Select <User defined update server> from the Update server drop-down menu and enter in the address of the ESET Remote Administrator Server you'd like this Console to point at, in the following format:

      http://servername:2221/

where servername is replaced by the name/IP address of the server you are pointing to.

    4. Click OK.

    5. Repeat steps 1-4 on each machine that you've configured to act as an update mirror.
