How do I use the Policy Migration Wizard in ESET Remote Administrator? (5.x)

  • Migrate your policy settings for client workstations into a new policy for 5.x clients

A new version has been released

Version 6 of ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) and ESET business products were released in North America December 11th, 2014, and globally February 25th, 2015. This article applies to version 5.x and earlier ESET business products. For information about what's new in the latest version and how to upgrade, see the following article:

 

  1. Open the ESET Remote Administrator Console (ERAC) by clicking Start  All Programs ESET  ESET Remote Administrator Console  ESET Remote Administrator Console.  
     
  2. Click Tools  Policy Manager.
     
  3. Click Policy Migration Wizard.

  1. Select the check box(es) next to the policy or policies that you want to migrate settings from and click Next.

  1. Select one of the following policy migration methods and then click Next:
    1. Replace existing Endpoint policy and use only source settings: All Windows product line v3 and v4 policy settings will be preserved. Windows desktop v5 policy settings that do not conflict with existing Windows product line v3 and v4 settings will use default values.
    1. Merge policies and do not replace conflicting Endpoint settings: Existing and migrated policies will be merged. Existing Windows desktop v5 policy settings will not be replaced by settings from the Windows product line v3 and v4 policy.
       
    2. Merge policies and replace conflicting Endpoint settings: Existing and migrated policies will be merged. Existing Windows desktop v5 policy settings will be replaced by settings from the Windows product line v3 and v4 policy where applicable.

  1. Click Finish when migration is complete.

Re-enable ESET Live Grid

When migrating client policies from version 4 and earlier products, the Join ESET Live Grid setting for client workstations will automatically be disabled. To re-enable this setting, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Tools → Policy Manager.
     
  2. Select the policy that you just migrated and click Edit policy.
     
  3. Expand Windows desktop v5 → Kernel → Settings → ESET Live Grid.
     
  4. Click Join ESET Live Grid and then select the check box next to Value: Yes / No

  1. Click Console, and then click Yes to save your changes.
  1. When migration is complete, select the policy for which you just migrated settings and click View merged to view only the settings that were affected by migration.
