Password protect program settings on client workstations from ESET Remote Administrator (6.x)

Issue

  • ESET program settings are not password-protected on client workstations

Solution

Version 6.1.2227 and later only

The steps below will only work on ESET Remote Administrator and ESET Endpoint Antivirus / ESET Endpoint Security version 6.1.2227 and later (and ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server 6.2.x and later).

Password protect settings on client workstations using ESET Remote Administrator

 

Permissions changes in ESET Remote administrator 6.5 and later

Before proceeding, please note important changes to user access rights and permissions in the latest versions of ESET Remote Administrator.

 

 

View permissions

Once these permissions are in place, follow the steps below.

  1. Open ESET Remote Administrator Web Console (ERA Web Console) in your web browser and log in.

  2. Click Admin  → Policies and then select the policy that you want to modify.
     
  3. Click Policies → Edit.

  4. Expand Settings and select ESET Endpoint for Windows from the drop-down menu.

  5. Click User Interface, expand Access Setup, and then click the slider bar next to Password protect settings.

  6. Type the password in the New password and Confirm password fields. Click OK to save your changes.

  7. Click Finish to save your changes. Client computers assigned to this policy will receive the changes the next time they check in to the ESET Remote Administrator Server. Assign a policy.

Password protect settings on individual client workstations

  1. Open ESET Endpoint Security or ESET Endpoint Antivirus. Open my ESET product.
     
  2. Press the F5 key to open the Advanced setup window (if you are using a tablet, tap Setup → Advanced setup).  
     
  3. Click User Interface.
     
  4. Expand Access Setup and click the slider bar next to Password protect settings

  5. Type the password into the New password and Confirm password fields and click OK.

  6. Click OK to save your changes and exit the Advanced setup window.
