How do I exclude file extensions from Real-time file system protection using ESET Remote Administrator? (5.x)

Jump to instructions for individual client workstations

From ESET Remote Administrator Console

  1. Open the ESET Remote Administrator Console (ERAC) by clicking Start → All Programs → ESET → ESET Remote Administrator Console → ESET Remote Administrator Console.
     
  2. Click Tools → Policy Manager.
     
  3. Select the policy that you want to edit and click Edit Policy.

  1. Expand Windows desktop v5 → Real-time file system protection Scanner (Real time file system protection) → Extensions.
     
  2. Select Extension SetupDefault value (see the dialog) and click Edit.

  1. Make sure that the check box next to Scan all files is selected and click Add.

  1. Type the extension that you want to exclude into the Extension field (do not include a period) and click OK

  1. Repeat steps 6 and 7 to exclude multiple extension types. When you are finished click OK.
     
  2. Click Console → Yes to save your changes.

 

On an individual client workstation

  1. Open ESET Endpoint Security or ESET Endpoint Antivirus. How do I open my ESET product?

  2. Click Setup.

  3. Press F5 to access Advanced setup.

  4. Expand Computer → Antivirus and antispyware → Real-time file system protection and click Setup next to ThreatSense engine parameter setup.

  1. Click Extensions and make sure that the check box next to Scan all files is selected.

  2. Type the extension(s) that you want to exclude into the Extension field (do not include the period, for example type exe not .exe) and click Add.

  3. When you are finished adding extensions, click OK to save your changes and click OK to close Advanced setup.
